“Lermontov’s poem gives the cause for taking a look at our lives from above. By flying over the years, centuries, arts, passions and errors one can see what the creature, having never loved anyone and all of a sudden fell in love, saw with his blackest eyes. Now he is looking critically and doubtfully at the mankind. Who are these people? How do they come into being? How do they die, how fall in love?.. It is such a fun to take a view from above. People look so tiny. They are fussing around like ants, laboring, trying to achieve something. From above they also look so miserable and sad. But there is something very dignified and wise about this premonition of doom”.
